From Then to Now

Since 1958 Grant 4-D Farms has turned adversity into opportunity and continued to farm year after year. Here are some of the milestones that tell our story.

  • 1958Humble Beginnings
Our founders, Douglas and Clarice Grant, moved their little family from California to homestead ground in Rupert, Idaho. After a year of clearing brush and leveling land, they planted their first crops in 1959.
  • 1982Grant 4-D Farms Partnership Started
Duane and Laura Grant joined efforts with Doug and Clarice to form the partnership that is now known as Grant 4-D Farms with 1,100 acres.
  • 2001Expanded Partnership
Kalvin and Pam Miller joined the partnership. Their farm ground helped provide the land base for continued growth and expansion.
  • 2010Next Generation
Starting in 2010 our third generation began to return to the family farm. Kenyon and Julie Miller and their children were the first to return. Ryan and Malia Miller moved back with their children in 2011. Taylor and Lynae Grant moved to Idaho in 2013.
  • 2012Continued Growth
Lower Snake River Farms was purchased in Eastern Oregon. Diversifying geographically helps maintain the operation's sustainability.
  • 2014Board of Directors
Grant 4-D Farms transitioned from a general partnership to an LLC. At this time we appointed our CEO and formed a Board of Directors.
  • 2014Future Growth
In 2014, we acquired Pueblo Mountain Farm & Ranch in Fields, Oregon. Our team is continually looking for new opportunities to grow in our various communities for an exciting future in agriculture.

Today

Today there are 2 generations that are involved in the operations and 2 total of the 3rd generation working in the business. With the guidance of the Board of Directors the company continues to thrive and strive to be the benchmark of success in the potato industry.
